CareLinx by Sharecare introduces clinical advisory board of national nursing leaders

I was ahead of my time and on the cutting-edge of homecare long before the concept became popular.  I was ahead of my time and developed diverse homecare programs for the VNA of Dallas, TransMed Division of HCA, a Medical-School based outpatient clinic, and multiple acute care hospitals. Now, I am again ahead of the game by aligning with @carelinxbysharecare as a member of the newly-appointed #clinicaladvisoryboard.

Peruse the announcement below, and join me in congratulating the other members of our new board, each of whom will contribute to growth, care delivery, outcomes, and safety. #carelinx IS the CUTTING EDGE, and I am so proud to be involved!

ATLANTA – April 26, 2022 – Sharecare (Nasdaq: SHCR), the digital health company that helps people manage all their health in one place, today announced the creation of a clinical advisory board for its home health platform and network of caregivers, #CareLinx by Sharecare.

Composed of nursing leaders representing private practice, academia, government, the private sector, and the military, the board will provide strategic advice on how to equip nurse-caregivers with the tools, resources, and community support to sustain a rewarding career in home health. As the increasingly complex care needs of an aging population meet a nursing workforce that is projected to experience high turnover in the coming years, these experts will help Sharecare’s home health business foster a rewarding workplace culture for highly qualified professionals at all levels of nursing by offering expanded support with licensing, training, networking, continuing education, content, and more.

“The nursing leaders who make up CareLinx by Sharecare’s new clinical advisory board represent some of the most respected talent in the industry, and we’re excited to have them join us as we position ourselves as a key partner to support nurses in developing fulfilling career paths,” said Sherwin Sheik, head of home health at Sharecare. “Building on our recent growth, we’re committed to creating a community that will empower our caregivers, help them develop as professionals and, in turn, provide exceptional high-touch clinical care to our members.”

In addition to its focus on recruitment and retention, the board will help shape CareLinx by Sharecare’s clinical care offering, ensuring the development of tech-enabled home care plans are informed by the highest-quality evidence and latest best practices.

“The expertise, thoughtfulness, and influence of CareLinx by Sharecare’s clinical advisory board are critical resources as we strive to create a home for the exceptional nursing talent of today and tomorrow,” said Donna Hill Howes, RN, MS, Sharecare’s chief nursing officer. “Representing all levels of nursing and an array of sectors, our board members bring a wealth of experience that will put CareLinx by Sharecare on the cutting edge of delivering care in the home.”

The members of the board are:

  • Shawna Butler, RN, BSN, MBA – nurse economist; host, SEE YOU NOW podcast
  • Barbara Ficarra, RN, BSN, MPA – health educator, health system leader
  • Patricia Geraghty, FNP-BC, WHNP – nurse practitioner, private practice
  • Jason Gleason, MSN, NP-C, USAF LTC (RET) – nurse practitioner, Veterans Health Administration; retired U.S. Air National Guard lieutenant colonel
  • Efrat LaMandre, PhD, FNP-C – family nurse practitioner, private practice
  • Michele Mercer, RN – AVP, analytic consulting and data science, Blue Health Intelligence
  • JoAnn Shaw, LPN – president, Wisconsin Association of Licensed Practical Nurses; vice president, National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses

With an exclusive offering for AARP members and key partnerships with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and several of the largest health plans in the U.S., over 1.5 million Medicare Advantage members have access to CareLinx by Sharecare for free through their health plans.

I’m speaking at the 2021 HBA Annual Conference #HBAAC21!

I’m excited to present Great Leaders are Great Negotiators at the 2021 Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Annual Conference this November. #HBAAC21 promises to offer its attendees data-driven and empowering opportunities to:

  • Reimagine pathways to a more equitable and inclusive workplace
  • Build on expanded concepts of advocacy and allyship to engage in mutually beneficial relationships
  • Apply insights from promising and proven practices to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in their spheres of influence
  • Expand strategies that enhance one’s presence, visibility, and performance for advancement in an evolving workplace
  • Strengthen an invaluable network of advocates and accomplices

Join me and other inspiring industry leaders at #HBAAC21 for an interactive virtual experience. Be invigorated and inspired that, together, we can reimagine pathways to a more equitable and inclusive workplace. https://bit.ly/3yHHhOA

First of all, what business are we in? We are in the business of negotiation, which is nothing more than communication with different starting positions, a principle that remains the same.  We still must begin with the end in mind!  Our process may be different in a virtual world but we are still sharing/selling products, ideas, or ourselves.

That takes 3 steps; preparation, delivery, and education…

Preparation – mindset impacts how we present ourselves

Delivery – brings positive energy; if virtual –it is what you bring through the screen, not to the screen – consider standing up to channel your energy

Education – add stories to connect and generate emotion

Let the process and the conference begin! Bring it on…and keep your cool!

Join me for a Nurses’ Week Celebration…2021

National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, Florence Nightingale’s birthday.

International Nurses Day is celebrated around the world on May 12th of each year, and this year, once again, the theme for Nurses Week continues…the year of the nurse and midwife.

The Coronavirus has shifted priorities; hospitals and health systems would now be finalizing plans for The Year of the Nurse, and the opportunity to celebrate nurses and nursing. Nursing the World to Health is precisely what we are doing!

Priorities may have shifted, but nurses remain on the frontlines 24/7/365, providing care, often with limited resources, and making us proud.

In the midst of social distancing, anxiety, and fear of the unknown, and to honor all that you do,  I’ll provide a series of complimentary sessions addressing key topics for the nursing community:

Wednesday, May 5, 2021 – 11 am ET

  • Compassion Fatigue

Today, more than ever before, compassion fatigue is a possibility. Awareness of the problem is critical to developing an intervention. We find ourselves wanting to be all things to all people, and we realize that we cannot do it.

Objectives:

  1. Discuss signs of compassion fatigue
  2. Describe coping strategies
  3. List possible interventions

Friday, May 7, 2021 – 11 am ET

  • Life as a Balancing Act- Family Matters

We all have responsibilities, whether caring for children or elderly parents or pursuing personal interests, activities, or hobbies. Some of us are in the “sandwich generation; we’re juggling the challenge of homeschooling and vulnerable parents or family members. We must be equipped to resolve personal and workplace issues, juggle conflicting responsibilities and balance personal and workplace roles. Are you ready to learn how you can balance your act – when family life matters?

Objectives

  1. Identify challenges of work/life balance during a pandemic
  2. Discuss the power of three
  3. List 3 ways to ensure that family matters

Sunday, May 9, 2021 – 11 am ET

  • Stress and Crisis Management

Watching TV, listening to special reports, reading the newspaper (online or live), we have been inundated with reports that stress us to the point of exhaustion. Our ability to interact as members of teams drives our sense of belonging, inclusivity, collaboration, and trust. The Coronavirus has shifted our focus, leaving team members frustrated, tired, and anxious. As a team, you care for others, well aware of their fears, while concern mounts about transmission to your own family, exposure, and overall well-being. Social distancing has removed our ability to reach out and touch someone, to hold a hand, to wipe a brow, and to enjoy fellowship.

I’ll share tips for surviving and thriving during a pandemic. Yes, you can make time for yourself, stay in touch, exercise, stay safe, and keep your distance. This is your chance to learn how.

Objectives

  1. Describe anxiety levels around Covid-19
  2. Identify tips for surviving and thriving
  3. Discuss the gratitude gap

Tuesday, May 11, 2021 – 11 am ET

  • Self-care is not selfish

Now is the time to be your own cheerleader; I’ll share content related to Self-Care along with a 32-page Playbook featuring a special section on Tips and Techniques for Self-care.

Objectives

  1. Discuss healing environments
  2. Read and interpret your body’s signals
  3. Describe mindset

Attend this 4-part series of FREE programs in honor of nurses and nursing. Enroll now, at no charge, and receive a copy of the 32-page Playbook!  http://bit.ly/3lx9cez

Say goodbye to 2020, a stressful infodemic

What a stressful year it has been!  Call it what you want, but 2020 has been the year of Information Overload, aka info anxiety, info explosion, and in some cases, an infodemic. In the past, thoughts of information overload stemmed from a packed inbox and the fact that we were drowning in information. We had an abundance of content and little time allocated to processing. At the time, information overload was considered by some to be a source of stress, reduced job satisfaction, disruptions in social and professional relationships, and poor health. The symptoms were benign, and those afflicted often suffered in silence.

Expectations about information and response times changed, and smartphones, social networks, smart TVs, and other devices flooded us with information and left little room or time for a personal recharge. While technology plays a crucial role in information management, how we manage that information, and the choices that we make, affect our ability to deal with the disruption. Those choices include delegation, escape, filters, and rejection. Have we changed amid the current disruption of a pandemic? Is the coronavirus an infodemic in addition to being a pandemic?

One thing is sure, the pandemic took stress levels to an all-time high, and it’s the first pandemic in history in which technology and social media have been used on a broad scale to keep people, safe, informed, productive, and connected. When we reflect on the year 2020, consider the thought that this tsunami of information, online and offline, included attempts to undermine the global response and impair control of the pandemic. Misinformation cost lives according to the World Health Organization (WHO) briefings. We’ve all been over-exposed to a huge quantity of information; to navigate the challenge, we must assess the source, go beyond headlines, identify the author, check the dates and facts, examine supporting evidence (science), and manage our personal assumptions.  As we bid farewell to 2020, let’s focus on flattening the curve of misinformation, an overload that made 2020 the year of “too much.”  It’s time to say goodbye!  If you need help in managing pandemic-related stress, reach out…to me. As the stressbuster, I’ve been dealing with stress and crisis management for individuals and organizations for over 18 years!

It’s your CHOICE…postponed or canceled

Henry Miller tells us that, “Life, as it is called, is for most of us one long postponement.” The pandemic shifted many of our lives, postponing, and sometimes canceling booked events, meetings, conferences, and family gatherings.  It’s one thing to postpone a meeting or event; it is another thing to put our dreams on hold. What gets in the way of our dreams, and causes us to hold off? How about time, money, family responsibilities, work priorities (if you are still employed), health challenges, fear of change, and uncertainty?

What’s holding you back and keeping you from getting better? Jim Rohn tells us, “Things don’t get better by chance; they get better by change.” I prefer, “Things don’t get better by chance; they get better by CHOICE.”  So, what choice will you make as we approach a New Year and a chance to reset our respective buttons?

Refine your “Brand.” Personal branding is a brand called you; it conveys your work, your style, and your purpose. Make a CHOICE to commit to your brand in 2021 and beyond. Make a CHOICE to avoid postponements and cancellations, and advance to become the best version of yourself. Make a CHOICE to not allow people, places, and things to interfere with your dreams! Let’s make 2021 the year to overcome disruption, enhance well-being, and enjoy life!
