CareLinx by Sharecare introduces clinical advisory board of national nursing leaders

I was ahead of my time and on the cutting-edge of homecare long before the concept became popular.  I was ahead of my time and developed diverse homecare programs for the VNA of Dallas, TransMed Division of HCA, a Medical-School based outpatient clinic, and multiple acute care hospitals. Now, I am again ahead of the game by aligning with @carelinxbysharecare as a member of the newly-appointed #clinicaladvisoryboard.

Peruse the announcement below, and join me in congratulating the other members of our new board, each of whom will contribute to growth, care delivery, outcomes, and safety. #carelinx IS the CUTTING EDGE, and I am so proud to be involved!

ATLANTA – April 26, 2022 – Sharecare (Nasdaq: SHCR), the digital health company that helps people manage all their health in one place, today announced the creation of a clinical advisory board for its home health platform and network of caregivers, #CareLinx by Sharecare.

Composed of nursing leaders representing private practice, academia, government, the private sector, and the military, the board will provide strategic advice on how to equip nurse-caregivers with the tools, resources, and community support to sustain a rewarding career in home health. As the increasingly complex care needs of an aging population meet a nursing workforce that is projected to experience high turnover in the coming years, these experts will help Sharecare’s home health business foster a rewarding workplace culture for highly qualified professionals at all levels of nursing by offering expanded support with licensing, training, networking, continuing education, content, and more.

“The nursing leaders who make up CareLinx by Sharecare’s new clinical advisory board represent some of the most respected talent in the industry, and we’re excited to have them join us as we position ourselves as a key partner to support nurses in developing fulfilling career paths,” said Sherwin Sheik, head of home health at Sharecare. “Building on our recent growth, we’re committed to creating a community that will empower our caregivers, help them develop as professionals and, in turn, provide exceptional high-touch clinical care to our members.”

In addition to its focus on recruitment and retention, the board will help shape CareLinx by Sharecare’s clinical care offering, ensuring the development of tech-enabled home care plans are informed by the highest-quality evidence and latest best practices.

“The expertise, thoughtfulness, and influence of CareLinx by Sharecare’s clinical advisory board are critical resources as we strive to create a home for the exceptional nursing talent of today and tomorrow,” said Donna Hill Howes, RN, MS, Sharecare’s chief nursing officer. “Representing all levels of nursing and an array of sectors, our board members bring a wealth of experience that will put CareLinx by Sharecare on the cutting edge of delivering care in the home.”

The members of the board are:

  • Shawna Butler, RN, BSN, MBA – nurse economist; host, SEE YOU NOW podcast
  • Barbara Ficarra, RN, BSN, MPA – health educator, health system leader
  • Patricia Geraghty, FNP-BC, WHNP – nurse practitioner, private practice
  • Jason Gleason, MSN, NP-C, USAF LTC (RET) – nurse practitioner, Veterans Health Administration; retired U.S. Air National Guard lieutenant colonel
  • Efrat LaMandre, PhD, FNP-C – family nurse practitioner, private practice
  • Michele Mercer, RN – AVP, analytic consulting and data science, Blue Health Intelligence
  • JoAnn Shaw, LPN – president, Wisconsin Association of Licensed Practical Nurses; vice president, National Association of Licensed Practical Nurses
  • Beth Ann Swan, PhD, RN, FAAN – transitional care expert; Professor and Associate Dean at Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing, Emory University
  • Sharon M. Weinstein, RN, MS, FAAN – CEO and founder, SMW Group LLC
  • Christopher Wilson, RN, APRN, FNP-C – family nurse practitioner, Veterans Health Administration; First Lieutenant, U.S. Army Reserve

With an exclusive offering for AARP members and key partnerships with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs through the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and several of the largest health plans in the U.S., over 1.5 million Medicare Advantage members have access to CareLinx by Sharecare for free through their health plans.

I invite you to discover #carelinxbysharecare and partner with us to ensure best practices, an engaged nursing workforce, and great outcomes!

Holidays and Happy Days

What a year it has been!

With the overwork and overwhelm associated with the pandemic and a redesign of holiday traditions over the past 20 months, this is an ideal time to examine Holidays and Happy Days going forth. What traditions changed for you in 2020? Were you socially distanced and away from family and friends for birthdays, major holidays like Thanksgiving, and New Year’s? How did you welcome 2021, with open arms and a clean slate, or with the memories of a horrific year?

Thanksgiving is so much more than turkey, fixings, and a football game. Thanksgiving is about family values and gatherings. If we cannot gather, how do we celebrate? We discovered ways in which to celebrate in 2021 with virtual dinners, small, but limited, group meetings. The holiday looked different, and so did Hanukkah, which was remote and lively. So too will Christmas and New Year’s be unique experiences!  Facetime played a big part in celebrations, adding the ability to connect in real-time.  What can we do to ensure safety as well as quality time with those near and dear to us this holiday season and beyond?

  • Define expectations – discuss safety precautions and make efforts to reduce risk. Ask for adherence to masking and social distancing
  • Adhere to guidelines – keep everyone safe with masks, vaccination, cleaning surfaces, handwashing, and taking a raincheck if you are not well
  • Create new ways to enjoy the holidays – become a “pod” with your family only in a single household gathering, or meet at a distance using one of the platforms readily available
  • Safe travels – stay at home if possible; practice precautions, and if needed postpone your holiday

We’ve been blessed to have the opportunity to collaborate with new colleagues throughout Western Europe, North America, and beyond. This year we’ve expanded our network, relationships, and our outputs. It’s been a pleasure to present over 75 programs virtually to pharma, health care, and medical device professionals throughout the world.

We’ve found and kept our spark alive!

I recall a year in which we postponed our family’s Hanukkah celebration until January; this was years before the current pandemic, but due to a family member’s illness, it was just not possible. When we did enjoy the festivities the following January, we were so grateful for the chance to be together again. As you make plans to celebrate holidays and happy days with those near and dear to you, think about expectations, guidelines, creative ways to enjoy one another, and safety. May the New Year be one of joy, blessings, and good health – the greatest blessing of all.

We thank you for inviting us to be a part of your 2021 events (virtually or hybrid), and we welcome the chance to collaborate with you again in 2022!

Happy Holidays; Happy Days are ahead!

It was a great pandemic-driven ride, and we are moving on…

In the Summer of 2020, at the start of the pandemic, @Candycampbell and I talked about what was needed by our respective clients, and what we could do to continue what we do best…coaching, consulting, communicating – all with personal and professional development in mind.

And, thus, Lead4Excellence went from concept to reality. Our goal was to offer a virtual learning experience for our colleagues from the health professions during a time of unrest, unknown, and disruption.

And we did employ innovations in remote models to enhance the flow of information, bring you current content on key concerns, and create new organizational practices that enhance outcomes and ensure a strong workforce. Our approach was a “Quick Fix” —one that allowed us to break the cycle of unrest, pause, and bring learning to a whole new level with concepts shared by a prolific group of professionals who gave their time and talent to our program. The first Summit in 2020 brought nearly 800 attendees together, virtually, with pre-recorded keynotes and panels. The Virtual Innovation Town Center (VITC) was born, and sponsors reaped great rewards.

In October, we brought you the 2nd Summit, with LIVE keynotes and panels on a wealth of topics that impact innovation, insight, and integrity. Once again, we succeeded beyond our expectations, and we thank you for that.

The pandemic changed most of our lives in a profound way. Millions of lives were lost; millions of healthcare workers risked their lives on the frontline and on the finish line. Trillions of dollars were spent, and roles and responsibilities changed. The workforce has changed, our own business models took a back seat to our passion for Lead4Excellence and we have enjoyed the journey with each of you.

Now, it is time to reflect on what we learned about ourselves and our business.

  1. We know that dealing with overwhelm by creating more overwhelm puts us at risk, and that self-care is critical to our success.
  2. We know that we need to return to what brought us our initial successes, and that is Coaching, Consulting, Communicating.

With full plates and fuller hearts, we thank you for your support of Lead4Excellence, as a presenter, LinkedIn LIVE guest, or sponsor.

We’ve been blessed, and we’ve been happy to share the blessings with you. While Lead4Excellence will no longer share content,

We are back to our former selves, enriched by our experience of working with you, and joyful over the difference we have made.

I’m speaking at the 2021 HBA Annual Conference #HBAAC21!

I’m excited to present Great Leaders are Great Negotiators at the 2021 Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association (HBA) Annual Conference this November. #HBAAC21 promises to offer its attendees data-driven and empowering opportunities to:

  • Reimagine pathways to a more equitable and inclusive workplace
  • Build on expanded concepts of advocacy and allyship to engage in mutually beneficial relationships
  • Apply insights from promising and proven practices to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) in their spheres of influence
  • Expand strategies that enhance one’s presence, visibility, and performance for advancement in an evolving workplace
  • Strengthen an invaluable network of advocates and accomplices

Join me and other inspiring industry leaders at #HBAAC21 for an interactive virtual experience. Be invigorated and inspired that, together, we can reimagine pathways to a more equitable and inclusive workplace. https://bit.ly/3yHHhOA

First of all, what business are we in? We are in the business of negotiation, which is nothing more than communication with different starting positions, a principle that remains the same.  We still must begin with the end in mind!  Our process may be different in a virtual world but we are still sharing/selling products, ideas, or ourselves.

That takes 3 steps; preparation, delivery, and education…

Preparation – mindset impacts how we present ourselves

Delivery – brings positive energy; if virtual –it is what you bring through the screen, not to the screen – consider standing up to channel your energy

Education – add stories to connect and generate emotion

Let the process and the conference begin! Bring it on…and keep your cool!
